Benefits of Robotic Welding in Modern Manufacturing
At KMK, we pride ourselves on being a single-source fabrication company. Part of that includes a variety of welding capabilities for sheet metal and tubing fabrication, which allows us to offer quality, fully-assembled products to our customers. In addition to having experienced welders on staff for manual welding, we also have robotic welding capabilities for longer runs of a certain project or more efficient assemblies.
The benefits of robotic welding
The use of automated or robotic welding allows KMK to offer many advantages to our customers. The welds tend to be much better quality with far more consistency across part batches, as well as cleaner and more precise than welds performed manually. They also provide comparatively lower costs, with reduced labor costs and reduced production costs due to errors or defects that needed to be corrected.
With a skilled operator on hand, a robotic welder also provides a more efficient production process. This type of equipment can efficiently produce repeated, accurate welds for extended periods of time, with less need for downtime which leads to a faster turnaround time for our customers. Also, robotic welding is simply safer than manual welding, allowing us to provide a better working environment for our team.
Robotic Welding at KMK
At KMK, we take advantage of our robotic welders for a range of production volumes. The benefits are obvious for medium to high volume production–consistent results across batches, less variation between the different welds, and less downtime between the different parts.
However, we also will take advantage of the speed and smoothness of robotic welding for fabrication projects with smaller production volumes as well. If welding is needed, we often tack weld a part together before putting it in the robotic welder in order to save on fixturing costs and still provide the quality our customers need.
