A Tour of KMK’s Capabilities: Tube Fabrication and Welding
So far in our blogs, we have been exploring all of the different aspects of our fabrication shop, from powder coating to sheet metal fabrication to wire forming. In this post, we’re taking a closer look at tube fabrication in our shop. Tube fabrication is part of the complement of services that we offer, allowing us to deliver fully or partially assembled products from racks to wire carts and more. This eliminates the need for our customers to jump through the many hoops associated with outsourcing these services to different suppliers.
Tube Fabrication at KMK
Tube fabrication involves forming metal tubes into curved shapes at precise angles, after cutting the tube to the right dimensions. This process requires properly calibrated equipment to ensure that the right dimensions are met and that the tube is formed into the desired shape.
Tube fabrication can include a wide variety of operations, but all are done according to the drawings provided by our customers. The typical operations include milling, drilling, or welding, as well as forming or cutting.
At KMK, we work primarily with carbon steel, aluminum, and stainless steel tubing. Our shop is equipped with a variety of saws, benders, and welding equipment, as well as several other processing services in-house to ensure we meet high quality standards with each project.
Some Applications We Serve with Tube Fabrication
At KMK, this technique is part of the arsenal of our fabrication shop that allows us to deliver full or partial assemblies to our customers. We typically incorporate metal tubing into larger weldments, such as custom racks and carts, store fixtures, and enclosures. One of our specialties is building products according to customer specifications, such as racks or carts that are precisely built to hold a specific object or products.
We also handle what we call OEM overflow. Our OEM partners will often outsource certain fabrication processes to us, such as a singular step or an entire assembly. We help them accommodate any sudden or unexpected increases in production volume or support them during their busy seasons.
