Meet the people behind our machines: A closer look at KMK’s Sheet Metal Fabrication
KMK has discussed our sheet metal fabrication capabilities on our website–today we invite you to take a ‘tour’ of our facility. Learn about our various sheet metal fabrication equipment and why we chose to add each one to our facility, and meet the operators that will take care of your fabrication project!

Meet the operators on the floor!
Having reliable, advanced equipment for sheet metal fabrication is important, but having the trained personnel to run the machines is even more so.
Kyle is the floor supervisor and CAD Engineer, and has been with KMK since 2005. He enjoys the simple things in life like deer hunting, Nascar and his kids keeping him on his toes. He always has a funny story.
Scott is our laser setup and operator, and when he’s not running the laser, he’s out riding one of his Harleys or playing with his grandkids.
Andy, who started in 2014, is our go-to man on the brake presses. He’s an amazing and intelligent setup person. When Andy is not at KMK, he enjoys spending time outdoors fishing or hunting or watching a football and hockey games.
Steven has been with KMK since 2004 and he is our all-around operator, helping out wherever he’s needed, whether that’s breaking parts out on the turret, running a brake press or welding. You won’t find a happier guy with a bigger smile than Steven.
Check out our favorite equipment brand
While we have a lot of equipment, you’ll notice that we have several Amada brake presses able to bend metal in lengths from 4’ to 10’, as well as three Amada brand turrets that easily accommodate sheet metal up to 60” by 120” as thick as 12 gauge. We’re fans of Amada equipment, not just for the level of quality that it produces, but also the energy efficiency and flexibility of the machines. Amada has long been a popular choice for sheet metal fabrication, and no wonder–our reliable equipment has served us well over the years.
Maintaining multiple brake presses
Currently, we have nine Amada brake presses operating in the KMK facility. Each one offers something new, from the size of products that they accommodate to automation of the process to more efficient operation overall:
- Amada HG1303: This high-tech brake press automates the process of bending large components up to 10 ft long with consistency across projects.
- Amada HM1003: Part of the Amada HM series, this brake press offers accurate and consistent bending of small to large parts, and like the Amada bends parts up to 10 ft. long.
- Amada RG Series: We have six different brake presses from this series with varying tonnage and part lengths that they can accommodate.
- Amada HDS8025: This brake press has a hybrid drive system for high-speed and high-precision projects of parts up to 8 ft. long.
Why we choose Laser cutting
CNC punching equipment is popular for mass production in sheet metal fabrication, but for thicker materials, we use laser cutting. Laser cutting is highly accurate and precise, producing clean cuts that require little subsequent processing, even in thick or difficult to cut materials. That’s why we’ve invested in an Alpha Fiber Laser with 60 x 120 bed, the latest in laser cutting technology. Fiber laser cutting is one of the most advanced types of laser cutting to date, offering high accuracy and precision, and allowing us to offer high quality components to our customers.
